20 Gallon Long

So here's my 20 gallon long. Set it up after my nanowave 9 crashed because of my stupidity. The 9's getting it's much needed upgrades, and will be a coral tank. The 20 has 2 96W pc's, and the fuge is being built as if it'll be compartments behind the tank like this

And here are the current tank pictures

Ok, so I spent about an hour talking to one of the guys at my LFS. This place is a saltwater store only, and ALL the workers are enthusiasts themselves, and if they don’t know the answer to one of their questions, then they will NOT give you an answer, or even try. I trust this store very much. Anyways, was talking to the guy about this carpet anemone I’ve been eyeing for about a month now that hopefully my true perculas will host in. I’ve also been reading up on lighting requirements and what not, and would not feel comfortable putting it in this tank without metal halides, or at least a couple t5’s. I’m REALLY dead set on getting this guy, but I don’t want to buy it without having the proper lighting. I want to do it right. So, what do you guys think my options are and how does what I’m thinking sound?
First thing is to finish my refuge/filter system. I ditched the one I cut myself, because it just wasn’t working for me, and the sides where bending too much with the pressure of water. So I ordered one from a guy to can custom make them. Same dimensions and everything, but way thicker acrylic. As soon as that gets here, I’ll button that project up since that’s all I’m waiting for. I have the return pump, skimmer, sand in the refuge will be from our 55 gallon tank, filter media is already bought, purigen, and chemi-pure as well. Once that’s done, I’ll look into either a clip on metal halide, or a small 150w unit, that I can focus onto the anemone, both of which I have my eye on a couple. Also, I’ve read the horror stories about people saying they’ve had their anemone under their pc’s for X amount of months, and “it’s doing just fine.” I’m looking at the longevity here. Do you guys think this is a good plan or what? Or even if I should put this guy in a 20g? I know it's a small tank, I just don't know the min tank size for a carpet. Suggestions wanted.

+1 a carpet will take over that tank for sure. even if its small now it will get bigger and if it moves around it will take out anything in its path. great looking tank by the way i cant wait to see it fill out.

yeah, it should move fast now. Tomorrow I get the last of the acrylic pieces for the refuge, and I'll glue that up tomorrow, as well as the overflow. I gotta order some underwater glue because I had to setup the tank before I had everything, and I'll have to glue the overflow in the tank with all the fishies and everything. If that doesn't work, I'll just box the other sides in, and glue it with fragging glue to the side of the tank. The overflow piping is all cut out too.

On a side note, I love having a drafting design program. I can model all my tanks, check clearnances, before I even make the first cut. Makes the whole process a lot easier. I laid out the overflow box design out, and just measured the pieces, cut, and assemble. It fits like a glove

I'm sure I could, but you need a license to operate it, and I don't know where that is. I got it years ago. It's a 2006 version. The new version I'd KILL to get my hands on. You can look it up though. Solidworks. Don't know of any other person that has it other than businesses

Here's kinda what the finished look should be.

I'm still iffy on the fan box for the added fan. It's not permantly on the hood right now, and the design is really choppy. Was thinking about a smaller fan, so it'll go right in the hood, and I won't have to make this box. It's on the left side of the light hood

haha, well the cd's and everything are with my license. so no help there. But yes, it can make anything. I had to design everything from scratch, but if you have a tape measurer, you can get a pretty good model from just about anything. I used to be the junior designer at an engineering firm, designing optical lazers, so this stuff is cake walk for me. All of this was probably a good 24 hours to model on the computer, but I do it in my spare time, so I don't really know for sure.
