Can someone tell me what I will need to buy for a 20g, FOWLR tank, and maybe some corals after. Besides the sand, water, rock, and fish. Which filter and/or skimmer will i need, what lights are good, and anythin else i 4got? Please and the thank you :)

a twenty u prob want about 70-100 watts of light.elements like calc, iodine, stronium etc,a emperor 280 would be nice and a prism skimmer or no skimmer at all depending on the stocking levels and pounds of live rock and depth of the dsb.o and test kits i used red sea sea lab and reef lab.get a clean up crew like for u 5-10 hermits,5-10 snails,1 fighting conch,1 peppermint shrimp and a cleaner shrimp or camelback.remember to do research on all fish before u buy them

I run a ten gal with no skimmer. I don't know. I wouldn't call it a waste of money, but if you don't really need it why buy it? Just make sure you cycle your tank completely, take it slow and get a filter. I have a mini penguin bio-wheel filter. That's all, and ten lbs of lr.

by pump i think u mean powerhead and yes you will need 1-3 depending on what u want.the ph are for feeding filterfeeders and just giving the natural current.for light a powercompact or flourescent i have a nice mixture of the two.prism and seaclones are both good and the seaclone is cheaper i know people with seaclones and they arent dissapointed.skiimers always help.they make frothy brown bubble of gunk and tiny particles in your tank that u may not see the the fish can and breat it in it also helps out a little with controlling algea.the reason i still have my visi jet is
1)dont have the money right now for a better one
2)i have customized it to work alot better

Goood powerheads are Maxi-Jets. A powerhead is a pump that is submersible and creates a ocean-like current. What corals do you want to keep? Your fish will decifer if you can keep corals, what fish do you plan too?

As for corals, I like the hammers, flower pots, star polyps, mushrooms, plate, and this other one that ill tell u the name when i find out.

good ph's are powersweeps(i have 2) and maxi-jet.no u dont need water pumps.dimesions for a 30 are 30 long,12 wide and 18 deep.just guess for a 20 maybe like 12in wide 20in long and 15 deep?start out with shrooms, then polyps, then go to the others if ur lghting is good enough (4 or 5 and other watts per gallon)to find out your watts per gallon add up all the watts of ur lighting and divide it by the size of ur tank, well thats what i do

I have a 20 gallon long glass tank and have 2 hang on the back filters and 1 canister filter. My water is crystal clear even though I dont have any fish in yet.My only problem is not enough lighting in my tank but the small corals that came as bonuses on some pieces of live rock are doing quite nicely under 40 watts of light.1 10,000K and 1 50/50 #3 actinic blue light.Good luck. :)

joe,
How does your visi jet skimmer do on your 30g, I'm thinking of 30g instead of 20g? I see that you use the visi jet.

If I get the 30g instead, is the maxi-jet 400 ok or do I need more or better? For the lights can i put daylight pc and actinic pc?
