I am getting x2 175w MH pendent's for my 55 gallon and was wondering if I should go with two 20K bulbs or two 10K bulbs OR one 10K other one 20K???
How should I do this.
I will be getting one pendent this week and in about 5 months I will have the other one.

well 20 k are blue and 10k is white, so if you do 1 of each one side's gonna be bluer than the other, 20k will make corals look better and 10 k will make them grow faster, i've heard the PIR rating of 10K is 3x as much as a 20k

What is the TOP of the line MH system In your opinion??
can be a retro fit OR a full hood system.
And remember it is going on a 55 gallon system.
Thx for the info

i just have the retro kit, and it is awsome.
You can get the retro kit with cooling fans.
20k is very blue.. i would go with 10k.
Good luck!

Rarer, but you might consider 14K bulbs. Hamilton technology makes good 14K MH systems. Personally, I think that just 10K's with no actinics will be too yellow/brown. It is a white light, but with no blues to supplement it, it may not look as nice.

i liek the 10K, my buddy has 20k, and it is so dim.. so IMo 10K is a lot better, retro or full hood makes no difference in opperation

If your running 175w I would lean towards the 10K, like already said, the 20k 175w's are very dim. If your not gonna be running supplementation I would look for something like a 12k or 14k.
