I come home from work today and my female true perc has jumped from my tank and was stuck to my carpet. I am so depressed.

I dont use the glass top because I have heard bad things from using it but how do you stop your fish from stage diving??
It sucks cause she was part of a mated pair

fish don't usually jump for the fun of it.. I'm guessing she was scared. Might want to see if there is a bigger problem here. A cat? Bad water? a nusiance?

Pretty sure my water is fine but I will do all my checks tonight and find out, but this fish was always getting into the back section and I could hear her flipping her tail out of the water. My coral (zoos and GSP) are all doing well so I assumed everything was fine.

Why wouldn't you use the glass top?
I don't have an aquapod, but am familiar with them...
What is the problem with them, and is it worth loosing fish over??

I was told (just last week actually) that it blocks light, prevents gas exchange which can reduce oxygen levels, etc etc.

Glass tops aren't real good to use, for reasons stated above. Anyway, I have a 24g AquaPod, with a MH. I use the white plastic egg crate on top of the tank. I got it at Home Depot, it was like $10 for a huge sheet. The squares are like an inch (maybe smaller) wide. I have a true perc & purple firefish, and have never had a problem. I think it would be pretty hard for them to jump out between those squares. I have a crazy bengal cat that I know would jump in the tank first chance he got, so I feel better knowing he cant get in there, my tank never overheats from the MH and I know the tank is getting optimal gas exchange. I recommend the egg crate thing 100%!

Use egg crate to keep them from jumping out if you don't want to use glass tops.
As far as reasoning for jumping out could be multiple reasons. It could have been frightened or chased by anbother fish. Especially if they were a pair because mate will chase each other around & what not while mating.
