nice FTS, that rock on the bottom must be a really heavy, solid piece if you have 25lbs of LR in there. I agree with the others about adding more rock, its entirely up to you though. Also, its important to have good flow over the rocks as well, not only for filtration but also to prevent algae from growing on it. From the looks of it, your korailia and your loc-line splitter are not pointed at the rocks. If you did, it might help control the hair algae. JMO, good luck!

O.K. Thanks.
After some research, I have decided not to add any more LR. I have e-mailed *********** to ask them and they said I was good, Could add more but defiantly good, also PMed Perfect Dark, He said I was good, so I think i'm good.
CAN'T WAIT TILL CHRISTMAS!!!!
All I want christmas is 2 fish, 12 hermits,12 snails, 1 shrimp and 5 corals, all I want for christmas is.................

Also, I am approaching 10-12 months, which is what I have heard is the lifespan of PC bulbs. What is the best 40 watt, 17 inch, square pin light I can get in 10000K and 460 nm?

Hi, Happy Thanksgiving!

Had extended family over today...They LOVED my tanks (24 gallon SW and 30 Gallon FW)...That was cool.

Another question...thinking about upgrading lighting in February..Could I mount a third bulb in my orbit? I am a HUGE DIYer. Thinking about removing reflector, clamping wood to back side and drilling mounting holes on the angled sides of the reflector, and one in the middle so the LED shines through the slit in the PC..I can get a 40 watt sun pack, w/ ballast for $75. Thinking about making the new bulb a 50/50, making me have 60 watts Daylight, and 60 watts 460 nm..
Would This work?
Or, I could get a 150 watt MH pendent of some sort...Any suggestions? Under $250 preferably lower. I am planing on upgrading in a year or so to a 55 gallon so I could buy then a second identical unit to use in tandem.

I changed a couple of things with my stocking future stocking list, here it is. I decreased the number of Banded trochus snails, removed the yellow leg hermit completely, and added 2 scarlet reef hermit crabs. Let Me know what you think! (I added the new type of hermit because it's suppose to LOVE hair algae.
:Final Tank Design:
2 Amphiprion ocellaris (Common Clown, Formula Two)
1 Nemateleotris decora (Purple Firefish, brine shrimp)
1 Paracheilinus carpenteri (Carpenter’s Flasher Wrasse, brine shrimp, initially live feeder shrimp)
1 Lysmata debelius (Blood Red Fire Shrimp, parasites, brine shrimp)
4 Clibanarius sp. (Dwarf Red Tip Hermit Crab, natural algae, dried seaweed)*
4 Calcinus laevimanus (Dwarf Zebra Hermit Crab, natural algae, dried seaweed)*
2 Paguristes cadenati (Scarlet Reef Hermit Crab, natural algae, dried seaweed)*
4 Nassarius sp. (Nassarius Snail, detritus, brine shrimp)
2 Trochus sp. ( Banded Trochus snail, natural algae, dried seaweed)
4 Margarites pupillus (Margarita Snail, natural algae, dried seaweed)
1 polyp Blastomussa wellsi (Purple Australian Big Polyp Blastomussa, bottled suspended plankton)
1 Soft Coral Frag 5 Pack – Aquacultured (1 Lemon or Purple Tree Coral, 1 Neon Pineapple Tree Coral or 1 Taylor's Tree Coral, 1 Taro Tree Coral, 1 Evergreen Starburst Polyp, and 1 Silver Branch Pumping Xenia, bottled suspended plankton)
*24 Fancy Medium Hermit Crab Shells will be provided.

Temp: 76.3F
Alk(meq/.L):3
Ammonia (total):0
Nitrite:0
Nitrate:15
Phosphate:0.5
Silicate: 0
Iodide: .04

I will be going on a 5 day trip in the spring...I'll have corals and inverts by then...What equipment should I get? (eg auto top off, feeders)I was thinking the Eheim Feed Air (put a mix of dried seaweed, formula 2 pellets and freeze dried brine shrimp) also a Reef Fanatic Top Off controller, with a maxi Jet 900. Is it okay not to add supplements for a 5 days? or should I get a dosing pump?

Also,
Is the Tunze Osmolator better than the reef Fanatic? Would they work with the aquapod sump? Or would I have to put the sensor in the tank?

i would still add more rock if you want corals. jmo. but if your gunna add alot you have one big rock to put them on and thats it. at this point its not about how many pounds but how many rocks. the more the better

I will be moving in May and I would like some help with advice for this. I am planning on bagging the corals and putting them in a small cooler, Putting the fish in a 5 gal bucket, the snails and the shrimp in another, and the Hermit crabs in a third. I am also planning on leaving the sand in the tank with just enough water to cover it. The LR would be put in a fourth 5 gal bucket with water. The move will be about 8 hours. Will it be safe to add the fish and inverts at the final destination? I am planning after the move to do 1 month of twice weekly water tests and 25% WC once a week. Is this enough?

Hey Ajer, how are things? I dont know enough about how you should transports your items to your new place, but sounds like you have plenty of time to figure it out. Once in awhile this topic comes up about moving. Have you tried searching on these forums yet? I'm sure someone will chime in soon and give ya some advice on what to do. good luck

sounds like you have a pretty good plan. Im doing a move today (only an hour and a half drive) and im just putting all live rock in a bucket with water and then fish inverts and corals in a small 1 gallon styrofoam box with water to hopefully keep the temperature stable. Only thing im worried about is hitting rush hour traffic through San Francisco and the frag im picking up on the way not making it
Good Luck!

I don't know if I said this, but I plan on leaving the LS in the tank. I am mainly worried about a cycle at the final destination.
