24" or 30" lights

I have a 29g that is 30" long...
Should I purchase the 24" or 30" lights? Will the 24" fit with legs? Has anyone had an expirience with this that would say 'definitely go with the ___"?
Does it matter? The only reason I ask is I can by the 24's local and I would have to order the 30's... All things being equal I would lean one way over the other.
Any input?

if you get the 24" and would need legs, it would give you distance between the light and water. if you went with 30" i am guessing you would just set it on top of tank? not getting the distance between water and light? but i would wait for other advise. i am still too new.

After all the research i have been doing i would go with the 30". What type of hood do you have on the system right now?

you will have to get the 30"....the 24 inch with the legs will not reach out that far and even if it does, it will not be very stable. Plus, if you are going with a reef and corals and such, you will need full length light coverage....JMO

You will want the legs on the 30 inch, Get the light up off the top of the tank so you can have air flow under your light. The glass will intensify the heat from the lights and heat up your tank, You should also replace the glass on top of your tank with eggcrate. The tank needs to evaporate, it helps unwanted gases in your tank to escape. A tank can not do this properly with glass tops sitting on it. You will need to keep some fresh RO/DI water handy to top off your tank daily if needed.
