I have a 750g saltwater tank currently stocked with:
5" Niger
5" pink tail trigger
5" yellow tang
10" panther grouper
I have the opportunity to get a 24" (2 foot) porc puufer from a friend for free! My only concern is what effect it will have on the other tank mates. I know these fish are all compatible, but with this size difference, should I have any concerns? Please provide feedback ASAP as my friend is under some time constraints with respect to moving

You're going to have trouble with a porky puffer that big. They get really nasty once they get over a foot long. My old porky was over a foot long and killed my blue throat trigger and tore the bottom jaw off my dogface puffer (which eventually killed him) and wounded several other fish. Their bite is extremely strong (mine ate hermit crabs like sunflower seeds)and if one of your fish has a piece of food in it's mouth and the porky goes after it, there's a good chance that it will end up like my dogface. I eventually gave mine away to the zoo. I wouldn't try it if I were you...

Just to give you an idea about what you're planning on inheriting, off the dock back home, occasionally some nasty 3' to 4 1/2' Barracuda would come in, and snack on the sergeant majors/grunts (never could tell myself the tangs and angels there also, were food as well). Noticed one time a huge 2' or so porcupine puffer under the dock. Thing had the girth of a large dog's shoulders. Anyways, watched him for a while, noticed the Cuda's where there too. "This is going to be ugly" I thought. But nope. The porky did what he wanted. Swam right past the Cudas without care in the world and munch on some of the barnacles on the columns.

Onr of the lfs's I go to has one that big or perhaps even bigger, it even has some tankmates, I cannot recall what the tankmates are however.

Does anyone have a picture of a large one? The small ones I see in the stores are so cute. It's hard to imagine them turning ugly.

Bioneck, what size was that porky when you got him and how long did it take for him to reach that size?

I got him at 2-3" and it went through a growth spert from 5" to about 13" in a year or so. I had him for about 2 1/2 years.

Do you plan to add one to the 750 gallon project? This is by far my favorite fish, but I've never owned one. I have found a 210 that I plan to buy next month and a porky is on my stock list, but I wasn't aware they grew so quickly.
