I will be getting a 240,260 or a 300 gallon this summer and I want to plan ahead. My mom is actually letting me get a huge aquarium. I just have to get the $$$$$$$$ which I will have(finally).
Now the only thing that I already have thats going in this aquarium is a foxface.
Heres what I want to add(it will most likely be above a 240 probably around 260 or 275).
Brownbanded Bamboo Shark
Either a Bluespotted Ray or a Cortez Ray(what will be better?)
Pinktail Trigger(If I can I know you shouldn't keep triggers with sharks but this is a docile one)
Russel's Lionfish
Naso Tang
Other suggestions?

no matter how docile no triggers , wrasses, puffers with sharks or rays..
bulespotted stingray's are a bad choice since they have a horrible survival rate in the aquarium trade so go with a cortez.
also if you get a shark you will need caves for him at least two and then i suggest not more rock than make up the two caves so you have the rest open for your stingray.
keep in mind you will need at least a 100 ( give or take, the bigger the better) gallon or so sump/refugium.
you will also need a skimmer rated for a 4-500 gallon tank since your shark and ray are going to produce ALOT of waste .. They eat a TON every two days.
also get ytourself at least a one if not two 55 gallon drums for water changes and top-offs because you will need to be doing at least 55 gallon changes at least once a month,, which does get expensive.
also i go through about 5 gallons of top-off water a week give or take.. sometimes 7 sometimes 4. so you wil need a pretty good RODI unit to keep up and to keep those drums filled..
where do you live? i ask because of the temp of your tank.
also how long is the tank? the standard 8 feet im assuming.. heres a good link that i was responding to that if you read you will get some ideas..
IMO plan your filtration setup before evan thinkign about your stock list.. this is the part that will make or break you in the long run! also think about lighting etc. etc.. and you also need EXACT dimensions to plan a stocklist like this..

Ok this might sound like a dumb question but what is a sump? I know what it means but how do you make one and any reccomadations on what to put in it(skimmer, etc)
What I was going to do was get this: Tom Pro Series PS4 Filter and Skimmer w/Auto Fill System 1000GPH

[hr]
Giving you the best of two popular aquarium filters: The Canister Filter and the Wet/Dry. The Pro Series supplies optimum and efficient filtration for saltwater aquariums, engineered to deliver unsurpassed 3-stage filtration (mechanical, chemical and biological). This filter provides superb water movement, consistently processing waste and impurities so the aquarium’s water quality remains ideal, thus keeping the aquarium water crystal clear and your tank inhabitants healthy. Comes with Pro series filter, auto fill system (ASWO 73510), aqua pump lifter, Bio-Balls, Rapid overflow skimmer box, Protein Skimmer, Stellar Plus Air Pump, Sintered Glass Bio-Cylinders and a Rapids Submersible Pump 1,000gph.
Plus I was going to get another skimmer to add on to this.
Then I was going to take my 55 gallon and turn it into a refungium with cheato.

i honestly dont reccomend wasitng all your money on that thing..you can just buy a 75 or 90 gallont ank and turn it into somethign alot better..plus that skimmer is WAY too small .. and also you wouldnt be able to just "turn" your 55 gallon int oa refugium as all of these tanks would need to be connected and pass water through all of them, which you cant do with that filter your talkign about and then a seperate 55 gallon tank

once again iw ould go with a 75-100 gallon tank that you customa nd put baffles into so that you can have a sump/ and refugium all in one unit, and that will also provide great water movement along with excellent filtration.. but to do this you also have to first pick a skimmer out to make sure it will fit the dimensions of the tank( although iw ould get the sump/ refugium drilled) because IMO you should always use in-line pumps and clooseloop systems on agressive tangs since sharks and rays are very sensitive to electrical voltage cause by sumbmersible pumps
