Would this be overkill (250 mh) on a 22 gallon cube style tank. The tank is not up and running. Still getting the rest of the supplies and was offered a 250 mh for free from my brother in law.
Don't want to spend cash on a chiller? In input would help.
Thanks

Evaporation would be a good bit. R u going to have a canopy or open top?
If the MH is a pendant and will be hanging over the tank than the heat would not be an issue but the water evaporation will still be a good amount. How tall is the tank?
You will also need fans, if you don't want to get a chiller and heat is what your worried about, fans are a cheap way to go!
Well that's all the info I have, someone else will have to chime in for more info!!

It would be on a open tank. The light would sit on the legs that came attached. It also has chain attachments if I want to hang it.
The tank is about 22 inches deep ( I think). As for fans....can the computer type cooling fans be used for this?
Thanks

how high is it going to be above the tank? if it was like 12" i think it would be fine... that way you could get the right air flow over the tank...
what do you have in the tank if it is sps that would work well...

well u cant beat free, i think a 150mh would be much better for that size tank but anyways just make sure you hang it at least 12" above the water and allow good air flow on top of the water.
