after doing a bit of research, ive decided to use 1) hot water 2) clear vinegar and 3) a 3m pad to clean the tank.
ill be cleaning it tomorrow. I am also going to set up a tote, and run the hot water and vinegar through the bio wheel, and the clean the heater with it too.
there is so much salt leach on the light bulbs and the housing for the lights, i will have to carefully clean that too.
the stand had so much water damage to it, we had to toss it. Hubby will be building a new stand, so i will have to wait until he does that before I can start to fill up the tank
and put my sand and rock in (i haven't purchased any of it yet, i want to be sure im ready to use it)
Its going to feel like a long drawn out process but it will be worth it in the end.
I want everything to go right this time around
I have my test kits and food, and supplies from my first trip into this exciting hobby. once the stand is built, i will mix my salt water and go one step at a time, I can hardly wait to start
the cycling process!! I learned so much when i cycled the first time. NO LESS THAN 6 WEEKS for my cycle.
With my first tank, people who love me and care about me had the idea to shop for my first fishies to give to me as a surprise. They will be kindly asked not to do this, as it caused me to feel I had to add the fish to the tank WAAAAAY too early. before i do that this time, I will ask anyone who brings me fish tank items to return them until im ready. This time around I want to be the one to choose my livestock
i appreciate what they tried to do for me, but would appreciate a gift cert much more
wish it was tomorrow... I want to clean my tank!!
let me know what you think about the cleaning method ive chosen to go with
thank you guys for the replies
