I am in the second week (11th day) of my cycle, here are my readings.
Ammonia 0
Trites 10
Trates 80
PH 8.0
Temp 78
Salinity 1.024
I am cycling the tank with live rock, put in about 24-36 hours of filling the tank with sand and salt. I believe the nitrites are starting to come down, because it was off the charts to days ago, and is giving me a solid reading at 10. I have read alot of posts that said they have alot of life in their rock. I have yet to see a creature stirring. I fear that since the rock took two days to reach me while being delivered, that I had total die off. Is there any reason for alarm or panic? :notsure:

I dont think that there should be any reason to panic. Just let it do its thing and just be patient. Most of the life on the rock is hidden inside. Maybe you have a lot maybe you dont.

A lot of the life that is there you wont see for weeks to months, some sponges that may have died in shipping leaver gemmules behind that take a while to reconstitute enough to be visible.Unless your rock is 100% bleach white I'm willing to bet quite a bit of life made it. not only that but a ot of stuff isnt visible. the fact that its breaking down the ammonia to nitrites, then to nitrates proves there is viable bacteria there. Just be patient.

I have noticed that the greens and reds on the rock, become more visible everyday. Is this what you are talking about? The rock looks healthy imo, except some of the algae that appeared on the rock, has since died off.
