Finally started on the stand yesterday. Painting today. Hoping for a quick cycle so I can rid my 125 of all the soft corals.

I wish this was a 40B. I was going to order one since the light I'm using on this will fit it, but I figured that since I already have all the equipment, LR, and sand to start this up I might as well. The softies in my 125 have become pests the last few months and I just want them out.

I have a devils hand, two colonies of sinularia, two zoa colonies, gsp, a few red mushroom polyps, some purple mushroom polyps, ricordea, a small favia frag, and possibly a toadstool and closed green brain going into this tank. Essentially, a full tanks worth of corals that I no longer want in my main tank.

Here's what I have for the tank as far as equipment goes:
250 watt MH + (2) 96 watt PC fixture... I'm thinking I can probably get away with just running the PC's since the tank is only 12" deep
2 X Korralia 4's... will probably only use one
Red Sea Prism Pro skimmer
~80 lbs LR that came from my bigger tank and has been cooking for months now
1 bag of sand
So far this build has set me back $35.xx.

Looks good! Following...
Thanks! I've never been very good at carpentry but I've been getting better with practice.
I have parts soaking in vinegar water over night and am hoping on getting this thing cycling tomorrow. Honestly, if it wasn't for the wife and her emotional attachment to the softies in my tank, I wouldn't even be doing this. I'd just trade the softies in. I'm a bit weary of adding another responsibility but if it doesn't work out, I can flip the setup for some dough.

Water will be in tonight. It's the first time I'm excited to start a new tank for reasons other than the new tank itself. I just can't wait to have some more places for stonies in the bigger tank!

Looking good man!!! Nice work on the stand, it looks sturdy. Other then the soft corals what else are you planning for this tank?
Funny, subtraction by addition. LOL

Thanks! I used 40' of 2 X 4's on the stand LOL. This is going to be a softy tank. I was considering putting some of my LPS in there but I'd like to get away with just the PC's and I don't think the LPS would do well in that little light. I'll have to see how the corals I already have for it fill it in before deciding on any other softies. Not sure on fish yet. Any suggestions?

Apparently we are entertaining company tonight, so I won't get any water in there until tomorrow. Fish suggestions?

I think the tank needs an unusual fish. HMMM....Fu Manchu. Or maybe a yasha/pistol shrimp combo, with a pair of orange lined cardinals. Or a pair of clowns (maybe black ice or picasso), with a trio of green banded gobies. Or an African flameback angel in the mix with some other fish.

I was thinking of a dwarf angel. HMMMM....
The tank is up and running. It's a sweet little tank that fits the room well. I think I will like it.

I'll post a pic later today once it clears up a bit. That korralia 4 is really pushing stuff around in there.

I'm excited to share my fiance's first aquascape with everyone. With a few suggestions from me, she was able to throw a pretty nice little scape together.
