Dude I used aquarium selicone on everything even my pipeing and it works fine. But I think pvc cement is fine. However it is about the same price for the aquarium sealicone at home depot.
PVC cement is fine. It is what I have used on all of my plumbing with no ill effects. You don't want to use cpvc cement on pvc though, it will not hold up.
Looks good. Nice clean job. The only thing that you might have to watch is the water splashing too much because of the drop from your pipe to the water in the sump. If you do have too many problems with that either extend your pipes down to just under the water level or build some sort of tower to contain the splash.
I'm on top of that problem. I'm going to Lowes in the morning to get 2 angled adapters and another 10ft pipe to finish the return.... Also need to go to the pet store for some sand. I will post more pictures after that.
Thank you for your input
You may also want to relocate the electrical outlets or at least make some type of water proof cover. I can see potential for possible electrical fire. Othewise sump looks good.
Everything looks good so far. Give it a little time and the fuge will be full of cheato and you will be trimming it back regularly. It happens before you know it.
there is a pipe that runs down behind the light. I only let about 15% water flow in the fuge. This weekend I'm going to buy some pod eggs. So they can start populating
