it's hard to overkill!!! lol... but yeah no bubbles,,, bubbles are bad! and so is a undergravel filter, and I read a book that said it's like a must in saltwater.... which I'm sure if you post a thread about it everyone will tell you to destroy it don't even leave it under there take it out

fish tanks go through a phase called the "cycle" and if u put in any fish theyll usually die..alot of people just use fish food, or a dead coktail shrimp to get it started...if u didnt know this already feel free to ask more ??s about it!
(and yes i do know more about it than i stated..but i dont know if the poster does..and if he does i didnt feel like typing alot..lol)

well you didn't describe any problems. all you said were your levels are good and you took out the underground filter. I'd remove the airstones. bubbles arent good for saltwater tanks (salt creep and supposedly some fish can get some sort of anomaly from breathing them) and the biowheels will oxygentate the water. do more powerheads (air valve closed) instead of airstones.
UV is a matter of personal opinion. low wattage does nothing for parasites but may help control algae. large wattage and slow flow will help reduce floating parasites but either believe there beneficial or you dont. I
believe in them for a fish only system and for algae control in a reef system but when used set up powerful enough to kill parasites I wouldn't use it in a reef system where all kinds of small larvae ect that feed corals will probably get harmed as well as the bad stuff. Protein skimmers are pretty much standard set up equipment these days. Make sure you buy local "cured" rock if you are putting it directly in the tank. you should carry it home in buckets (two 5gallon buckets will work for 25lbs)).

I agree withStan Lalee, you do not need uv I have 30 gal RwLR and fish I did not use any filter at all I use only about 70 pounds LR and 3 inc LS and superskimmer from coralline for 65 gal tank I had 1 royal grama, 1 maroon clown, 2 yellow gobies, 1 yellow watchman goby, 1 Sixline wrasse . coral I had pulsing xinia, mushroom, zoa, kanya tree, galaxi coral, yellow polyp, 2 skunk cleaner shrimps, 2 emeral crabs 10 snails some hermit crabs and I did not have any problem at all with my tank only thing I did to keep the tank healthy I changed 5 gallons water every weekend that all I do,
sorry I forgot to tell you every Wednesday I fiilled 5ml of reef trace supplement to DT and feed my coral with chromaplex and phytoplex from KentMarine, sometimes I dropped about 1 ml of reef iodide to the tank and about every 2 weeks I mixed1 tspoon of Figi coral & live rock supplement with 1 cup of tank water to put to my tank.
good luck with your tank :happyfish
