Classic rock mostly, but i'm open to anything. Two of my favorite songs are "into the ocean" and "calling you" by Blue October.

Classical first, rock and bluegrass next. Got me an HD radio in the car last year and it is so cool-one station all bluegrass all the time, one alt rock, one live rock, and best of all-no commercials on the HD side channel stations. yet.

I prefer music that doesn't suck. Genre is irrelevant.
To narrow it down though, I can't really stand cookie-cutter mainstream pop music. Too many modern bands that sound the same.
Jazz, blues, metal of all sorts, rock of all sorts, mostly guitar music but I like symphonic stuff too. Dave Matthews, Meshuggah, Crowbar, Sarah McClaughlan, Kyuss, Jefferson Airplane, Bee Gees, Dream Theatre, Faith No More...
Maybe I could say Southern Metal is my favorite. Down.

N'sync, Backstreet Boys and those chicks that shake it and their lyrics are along the lines of "oh baby, baby"... would be the prime examples these days. Teeny-bopper music.
Good Charlotte would be a good example of bubblegum punk-pop.

I like rock, country(70's and older), as well as some soul and R & B. My favorite though is blues. Most popular music we have today would not exist without original early blues music.

I was onboard until you said The Killers...

If Metallica would have changed their name when they released "Load" I would still claim to be a fan.
RIP Layne! My vocal hero.

Unfortunately too many people aren't willing to dive in or just don't care enough to realize the roots of their music.

bubble gum pop is all that crap that comes out every week that you hear on the radio 50 times a day for about a week then you never hear it again because there is a new annoying song out. generic lyrics, generic music, the only reason they are popular is because 400,000 trendy young teenagers think the singer is "hot" so the music must be good, or that every one else likes it so I must buy it too. and buy the albumns so the band pops out another generic albumn that sounds just like the last one, half the times lyrics are repeated from one song to the next, often on the same albumn. some call it cookie cutter music I call it bubble gumpop because you can buy any one of 400 albumns and they all sound alike. just like bubble gum you can buy any brand you want but bubble gum flavor is bubble gum flavor.
