by base rock do you mean rock that doesnt have the good bacteria and/or algae on it? if so, at my LFS its 2 dollars cheaper than the "premium" which is 8.99 per pound.

Hows the water look? Do you have any LR to put in there yet? For some reason my tank cleared quickly when I put my LR in.
Or maybe I Imagined it did.
Your light looks super bright!

I dont have any live rock in yet, but the water has cleared up a lot.
I am going this weekend to buy some, i'm just dont know how much rock i am going to get, or how to possibly save money on it.
I know you can seed baserock somehow, but if base rock is only 2 dollars cheaper, i might as well go full live rock.
Is it possible to add live rock slowly to the aquarium overtime, like 10lbs at a time?
And my lighhting apparently isnt very good, i was told i couldnt even keep simple soft corals, but i dont know.

corals need the actinc bulb or the UV bulb i think. they need UV for photosynthesis i know that.
and i add my LR over time. i have around 8 pounds in my 20 G atm and eventually will get a total of around 20 pounds. but im like u, its too expensive to buy all at once. especially when ur unemployed lol

Chee chee, AND, through research i learned that LR are excellent biological filters, thats probably why it cleared your dust so fast.

LR is way expensive! I have 12 lbs of LR seeding 40 Lbs of baserock. so far only one piece appears to have anything on it and whatever it was is dead now. Was bright green and now i light grey.

LOL SORRY, i couldnt resist, it was a good joke, lol
Anywayyyyy, i'm buying 30lbs of LR this weekend and hopefully i can get my tank to cycle.
Anyway, maybe i'll start by sharing ideas of my stocklist
CUC:
1 urchin of some type, any suggestions?
3 emerald crabs
10 Nerite snails?
10 Nassarius snails?
10 Turbo snails?
Is that not enough, too much, or what, any suggestions would be good.
And i would also like to know your thoughts on urchins, i know they are known for grazing corals, but i plan on keeping a FOWLR tank anyway.
OH, and also could someone recommend a simple urchin?
