Heres our adventure... we have always wanted a marine tank, have lots of experience with fresh water so we dove right in!
(1) 37 gallon tank with stand
(2) bag reef sand
(1) marineland bio wheel power filter emperor 280
(2) marineland maxi-jet 400
(1) aqualight 1 watt blue-moon-glow led light
(1) coral life "hood"
(1) coral life 50/50, 65 watt bulb
(1) pack of arms for the "hood"
(10) lbs of base live rock
(30) gallons of water
(1) hydrometer
(1) thermometer
(1) Rio Skimmer/filter
Day one:
yikes, whata sand storm w/day light

here is my moon-light ... nice moon lit cloudy mess

one of my rocks... the only one close enough to the glass to take a picture of. I like how it kinda has a heart on the bottom

thanks ronnie for the warning.. i basically just set the rocks in the tank (no where special) until the sand settles a bit, then i figure ill mess it all up again trying to set the rock where i want it. I dont have intentions of keeping it there
thanks so much for the warning.. oh yeah, and im a sister

cal, I plan to do mostly fish but some coral too.. i know i need to upgrade the bulb but for now thats what I have.. its been a pretty nice beating to my wallet this week, between buying everything for my tank and buying a new R.C. truck (emaxx for those R.C.'ers out there) ive spent at least 1,000 in the last two days! ack!!

I don't have that LR as an avatar...no wait, I think she switched it

Looks nice, I really like where it's located. It adds a nice touch to the walls and away from the sun of course. I actually wish I had a spot like that

i didnt wanna be a theif lol...
thanks for the compliment on its location, its a great corner. Even if we didnt have the balcony on that wall our condo faces north to south so we never get direct sun

Looking forward to new pictures. I would suggest at least 30 more pounds of live rock, 50 would be really great actually. I like a lot of live rock in my tank though. Considering it is the most important filter that you have it is something that shouldn't be skimped on.

looks like a good start and i like the size of your tank, you will be able to have plenty of goodies in it.
Because I am a safety nut, I recommend you make sure you set up correct drip loops and have a GFCI connect to your powerstrip, especially since your outlets are right next to your tank. You will not want water dripping or splashing on those sockets, especially when youre not home.

A suggestion is to possibly put your surge protector inside your cabinet. It would be a good way to set up a drip loop and keep the surge protector safe from splashing water.

thank you for the suggestion, i will certainly have my DH move it for me... i had it up high thinking it would create a good enough drip loop but it would be nice to have all those wires covered anyway.
Here are some new pictures from today!!! approx 48hrs ago
is wonderful!! Here is what I came home to this afternoon after work.
remember its not "Set up" i just put it in there so the sand had a chance to settle...

going to be getting ALOT more live rock

Also a black background would help to hide the wiring and to set off the corals in the tank once they are in

Ughh, not to rain on your parade but before you add more rock I would get that damsel out of there. He will harass other fish, and could potentially kill much more expensive fish. Unless you are going to have a aggressive fish in there with him he will not play nice

Also I know you said you wanted 2 clowns, keep in mind that clowns are in the same family as damsels. Basically you will have a lot of fighting and at least 1 death.

thank you for letting me know
i spoke to the LFS and they let me know they would take it back if we didnt want it post cycle, we were advised to either get that or a green chromis (sp?) to cycle the tank..they didnt have the chromis so that was out. We do plan to take it out before we add more rock, weve been told what a pain in the butt it is to catch the dam sals lol... we certainly dont want deaths!
