Hey krusk, just curious, what lfs do you usually go to? I live in Grand Rapids too and I only know of two of them, one of which is apparently closing in less than a month.

I heard an interview this guy done. From what I remember, the tank is 20'x7'x7'! He said he spends between $300-$500 a month to maintain it, but said he's had electric bills in the thousands. :D

Well I just got done reading his entire website.. interesting stuff!
Dimensions of this 4000 gal tank are 12x7x7, it has 2 200 gal ecosystem filtration (w/calupera) systems ONLY.. nothing else! He filters about 10,000 gal per hour. He just installed 1000watt MH bulbs! but hasn't uploaded pics yet. He has over 75 fish and NO BLUE HERMITS BECAUSE THEY KILL STUFF! w00t :D Oh and his monthly power for the tank is $300. It's built into his basement and always stays between 78-80.
Anyways it's really interesting.

whew! that's some major cash to build and upkeep that small tank  it would be a blast though if you had the time and money.
you know you got it rough when your using 2-200 gallon tanks for your sump/refugium ;)

I think I'm going to go check out the one on 44 and eastern today. I usually go to VI pets, the owner there (I'm pretty sure he's the owner), has been very helpful to me, and so far hasn't tried to sell me a whole bunch of stuff I don't necessarily need. But they have a limited selection on some things.
I was in the coral reef the other day, and the owner said that he's leaving in april, and closing down for good.
Thanks for telling me about the other stores though, I don't know of any that you don't, so sorry.

Nope, nothing on sale (suprise ?), I never liked that store either, the guy was always a jerk to me. He attemped to charge me $5 for entering the store and not buying anything. He was serious too. They did have some nice corals, I just have been in there before for 45 minutes, and no one will help me even when it's obvious I want to buy something.
Anyway, I'm not to sad thier closing. And I just got a very nice pc fixture on my 29 tank. I would like to add some more light honestly (I have 2/55), but the fixture takes up all but three inches on the back of my tank. So I don't have any room for any other lights. Sorry, thanks for the offer though.
