Thanks... I know what you mean about retail stands. Most are made cheap and you have pay an arm and a leg to get something that's decent. If I can make a custom stand in a third story apartment using mostly a handsaw and battery operated drill, then anyone can do it. Just make good use of your local hardware store like Home Depot where they can cut wood for you. All anyone needs is a lot of patience and the mentality of not settling for less.
If I could do it all over again, I would make a detailed plan. I did most of my planning while at the hardware store figuring that I could do all the designing in my head. It turned out OK but I had to make a lot of trips because I kept forgetting something or would just buy stuff I didn't need. I thank HD for having a great return policy!
