I'm currently in the middle of setting up my new 40 gallon frag tank system. I've got a couple options I'm looking at for in-sump skimmers, but I can not freaking decide which to go with so I figure I will ask the higher powers.
First off, footprint should not be an issue, since the sump is the same size as the frag tank itself (by different dimensions). I've sectioned the sump off in four parts (LR chamber, LS chamber, restricted flow chamber to house return pump, and skimmer chamber).
If the price is right, I do not have a problem with buying a skimmer setup with the pump included, but otherwise, I've got an extra Rio 2100 layin around now (since intentions for it did not follow through) and I figure I might as well put it to use if possible. I've got another 2100 as my return.
I have a buddy looking to sell me his Berlin skimmer rated for 30-250 gallons (sorry, don't know the model) for $60, and I've also found both a Coralife 135 and 220 for $65 each (pumps included).
Would the Rio 2100 work for the Berlin skimmer if I were to go with that or would I need to step it up to maybe a 2500?
Which of these would you go with?
And if neither, then what should I be considering instead?
The sooner I can get some help, the better, as I am trying to have this up and running by Sunday.
Thanks for looking.
