I think it is more important that the xenia likes your tank. The xenia in my DT has taken off but I put a frag of it in my frag tank and it melted.

Xenia is some ate up stuff, ain't it?

Xenia defies all rules that apply to coral. If someone asks me why their xenia died, I answer..."because it's xenia."

+1... No rhyme or reason
Time for some tank updates. Bought an angel that turned out to be a nipper so I had to remove all acans and SPS. Set up a 20 gallon long.

Since I removed most of my coral from the hex I thought it was a good time to try a rose anemone.

Up to date FTS

Sweet! My birthday is coming up.
Keep up the good work.
Well happy birthday if I don't get the invite via mail or email. Do yourself a solid and don't blow a ton of money on saltwater for your birthday.

It was a joke about liking your tank so much. But it is coming up in May. Got any new fish?
I don't keep fish very well. My success at keeping corals healthy in the past came at the expense at under feeding the tank. I have started to feed the tank more but I am only feeding food that I make.

I currently do have metal halide lighting. 150w Coralife clip on fixture using a 14K phoenix bulb. I also have the current nova extreme 18 inch (18wx2) for actinic.
The first fixture that I had was power compact. Coralife 24 inch (65wx2) was the type of fixture. I was able to keep softies and LPS. I considered buying the 24 inch Nova Extreme Pro but it is very pricey brand new. I found my current MH fixture for $100 used. The fan can be loud at times but overall I am very happy with the light.
People will suggest MH lighting because the tank is deep. The footprint on these tanks is not very big so coral placement becomes a battle. With metal halide lighting you can keep everything and at the right wattage you can keep it anywhere in the tank.
