Yeah, I am getting my RO/DI system delivered today, so I will fill this baby up ASAP.
Here are my results with the test kits:

PH 7.8
Ammonia .50 PPM
Nitrite .25 PPM
Nitrate 20PPM
The temp is around 86 F right now.
According to my research, fish need 4 weeks of quarantine before being introduced into the main tank. Yikes.
So I am setting a quarantine tank up this week.
OK here are some more pictures:
I have the sides wrapped in aluminum foil to prevent the sunlight from hitting the tank. I keep the lights off. I added two hydor Koralia circulation and wave pumps at 550 GPH adding some nice flow to the tank.

Shrimp cove... the raw shrimp I am using to cycle the tank with (He was added last Saturday at approximately 7:00PM water temp was at 88F. I would like to stress that the fish was RAW; however, now it looks like a cooked shrimp

get that temp down to 78-80.way too hat. the reason to qt the first fish is because if they have ich you will have to take out the sand and rock to treat them. (hypo or copper) i always keep a qt running and ghost feed.sometimes there is nothing in it for a year.

Yes it is hot, but I figured that would be an ideal temperature for the beneficial bacteria to thrive while this tank is cycling. No?

so there is someone who wants to be smarter than mother nature lol. one thing you will learn either the hard way or the smart way.saltwater fish hobby is all about patience. if you try to rush it you will pay.i have been at this for almost 30 years .all i know is take your time let nature do its thing.if you rush it you will pay .this is a long term hobby not like freshwater where you can dump fish in and put a garden hose in to do a water change.
