What do other 46g bow front people have for lights over there reef tank? I am looking for either PC, VHO or HQI's fixtures?
I need new lights and can't make up my mind.

i dont have a 46 gallon, but IMO 2x175 watt 10,000 K halides, and 2 VHO or PC actinics would look nice, and be good enough for all coral and clams

i have a 46bow with 36'' nova extreme 4x39w T5 ((2)460nm, (1)420nm, (1)10k daylight) and a 24'' Current 2x65w PC (Dual actinic, and dual smartpaq 1 tube 460nm and other is 10k) my tank looks great under that. all corals doing great and open better then ever under the T5's. Halides i believe would be to much for that tank and cause serious heat issues.

We've got the same light set up as Aiiden. Except it's not suspended from the ceiling so it sticks out a bit on the tank. I think it's sufficient.

Yes they are needed. I would not cut it off. Although there is a thread where someone cut the brace and replaced it with a clear piece of acrylic.

Thats my 46g bow.. If you wonder why the sand looks odd thats flat worms..
btw thats 4X96(384)w PC lights and it makes 8.34w per gallon.
thinking about putting a retro fit MH in.. but at the sametime I wonder if that would be over kill.
