I have read so many posts (with different opinions) about what kind a fish can be kept in certin size aquariums.
I am setting up a 90g FOWLR and have some questions about what I can keep in the 90g.
Tang police feel free to chime in.
I am NOT one to buy a fish only to have it outgrow my current aquarium and take it back to the LFS, so I want to know what fish I can keep when they are full grown in a 90g.
Can any of the following fish be kept in a 90g when full grown?
Tangs?
Triggers?
Puffers?
Angles?
Butterflys?
If yes to any of the above what kind?
Thanks

Tang police have been pretty respectfull lately...ummm
Ill only sugesst about what I have experiance with.
Tangs, and ofcouse this is only if your tank is healthy and established w/ proper filtration and enough LR, ECT...and only the fish and not considering mixing with others
Yellow, Kole, IO Mimic, Scopa, Purple, Convict or simular smaller spcs.
Triggers and Puffers I have no experiance.
Angels, Same rules as above..
Any of the dwarfs, maybe a Regal...
Butterflies, Almost any of them of course many of them are tricky even in larger tanks.
Up to you to research every fish you consider cause theres a lot more to consider than just size of tank but cudos for considering it first.

Puffers can fit in a 90, but some grow quite big (porqupine, dogface, etc). I would say that you can keep a smaller variety of puffer without problem.
You can keep 1 tang as long as the tank is established, you buy the tang small, and plan to upgrade eventually.
Triggers get large too. Probably the same as noted for the Tangs.

You would be fine with any of the dwarf angels (flame, coral beauty, bi color, etc.) and dwarf puffers (valentini, blue spot, Hawaiin, etc.). All of your large puffers and angels get too big for a 90. My big puffer is the reason by 75 is being moved into a 210 in the next few weeks. They just grow so big. Like stated, one tang would be okay. Make sure it is a tang that does not need as much swimming space such as a yellow or purple. Any of the ones with the elongated oval bodies like the powder blue, naso, and hippo should not be kept in that size aquarium. Most butterflies will be fine, just make sure it is eating before you buy it. Butterflies need a very established aquarium. Lastly, I would not try any triggers. They grow too big and get too aggressive.
Any more questions, feel free to ask.
