Fish are not particular when it comes to lighting. Red Sea makes a nice clamp on PC of 13 watts which can be had pretty cheap. Unless your prepared to go with major problems in keeping that small of a tank cool enough, stay away from metal halide lights.......much too much for a pico sized tank, especially just starting out. There is an online light company that has super prices on nano and pico lights for retrofitting into homebrew canopies, and those lights can be had for under $25.00 for one that will handle 28 thru 65 watt PC bulbs or for about $15 you can get a 13 watt which will be more than sufficient for most softies and such......I am currently running those 13 watt PC lights with 50/50 bulbs on 1.2 gal picos with great sucess in keeping corals like zoo, shrooms and leathers.
