5 days into cycle, when to run Protein skimmer?

Hiya,
My LFS told me to wait until the tank has cycled. Until then, there really isn't anything in the tank to tank out.

even tho there is nothing that will come out of my tank, would it also be good to start the protein skimmer since the instruction says it needs 1-2 weeks for it to break in?
or should i just wait?

I thought I heard someone on the boards say that it will prolong the cycle. That was the main reason I didn't run it. But then I heard from other people that you do want to run it :notsure:
Can anyone else chime in on this?

i believe you should wait because it will remove organics from the tank and slow down the cycle because you want the organics in the tank during the cycle. as the organics stay in the system it helps create the bacteria population which will complete the cycle.
