Ponies and horses require excellent water conditions, and 5 gall seems too hard to keep proper paramaters. As you will see all over this site, people recommend the largest tank possible as to reduce fluxuations and other problems with water quality. Despite that, I also think that a much larger tank is needed just for movement of the ponies, emphasis on tall tanks. Enough food may be an issue as well.

Well I am definately not an expert, by any means, I was just under the impression that 5 gallons is too small for any number of ponies, sorry.

yeah, any normal sized horse wouldn't live much more then a day i doubt in a 5 gallon. thats like living in the bathroom, hehe.

dwarfs actualy require small tanks. dwarfs in a large tank would have problems with food, they would get lost....there like the size of a dime. a 5 gallon to them is kinda like a 30+ gallon to a medium size one.

Did a quick google search and found that a sponge filter is good for dwarfs on a tank that size...sorry for my lack of knowledge...

gonna go set up the tank. i'm gonna use already cycled water from my 18g. and i'll ge t a vid soon of the tank. don't have filter yet s can't get ponies eyt.

If you want good advise look for Rykna!!! She rocks!!! But I will tell you she is not big on the lil tanks, I think she has hers in a 10gal and prolly would not go smaller. I should not speak for her but that is that is waht I have gathered from all of our almost daily chats!!!

I have a 14hex set up that will eventually be my pony tank. But seriously....she is good and knows her stuff.....Bronco300 knows a lot about these lil guys...per Ryk...Good luck
