It looks to me like it will open as well. Awesome deal. I all ready have some frogspawn in my tank but the hammer would be cool too.

This is gonna sound comical, but what is the hammer corals "head?" Is it the hard base part or the tentacle part?

top tenticle part. You will have a stalk and the head may/is the part that branch off where the tenticles are. Do you have 8 or 9 heads on it ?

to answer the how many head question it is five seperate heads that are subdividing to about 9 or ten I cant tell. open it really doesnt look much different than closed it looks more like a saddle bag anemone sitting on a skeleton than a hammer. If I hadnt seen it when it was in good shape I wouldnt believe it was a hammer. it doesnt have hammers just little bump, this thing was pretty close to toast. Its looking like its going to pull through.

OK here is a picture of it "open" as you can see it doesnt look anything like a hammer. and is going to take a while to recover. I put it next to my other hammers so you can see how different it looks.

Does the base grow of the coral grow along with the hammer's themselves? If I've got a single head/stalk of hammer coral, will it eventually grow into a large and flowing creature? I have a hard time believing that a clown fish with bind with a single stalked hammer. Correct me if I'm wrong.
I'd love to buy fraged hammer's, but I just don't know if it'll grow into what I see in some of these reef tanks.
