Just wanted to share a few pics of my obsession



Anyone have any ideas on keeping hair algae off the sand? The foxface and tang do a good job everywhere else but don't touch sand much. I have some snails and 2 fighting conchs and 1 queen conchs. I think it is from over feeding.

I think the tank looks great.
I just read of an Olive snail that suppose to be good for the sand. Anybody heard of these and are they safe for a reef? :notsure:

It is a boxfish. It was the coolest fish I have owned to date. It had so much personalty. The wife wants another one. I may just have to setup a seperate tank for another one one day. I really miss my corner tank. Since you dug up the thread here are a few pics before I took it down for the 240 I have now. It was about 10 months ago or something like that now.

Hi,
I thought a box fish would be great but I was told they can give off a toxin that can kill everything in the tank. Also they kill and eat anything they can get in their mouth.
Any truth to this?

The toxin part is true. Although they do not always release a toxin if stressed or die it can happen. Some boxfish are more prone to releasing it then others. They need to be kept with other peaceful fish as not to get picked on. They do eat some inverts but the one I had never touched anything.

I have read several of your old post threads or whatever. I am about 9 months into mt first saltwater experience. It is a 90 gal. Have had many of the same questions. Thanks for saving me the typing

I have a green carpet anemone and have been trying to keep a foxface. The carpet keeps eating them. Any suggestions? Some tangs have also disappeared.

No. I have too many fish. Some can be nippy at times. Also I have about 18,000 gph for flow. Boxfish are not the best swimmers and don't do well in high flow. Plus it will give me an excuse to setup more water

Get rid of the carpet. No really they are cool anemones, but not much you can do about that. All you can do is try and keep it fed well. You could also try a different carpet. Some are more likely to eat fish then others. Although when they get larger most will if given the chance. Got any pics? I love carpets. What color? I wish I would have put one in my tank and let it settle before I stocked it with corals. I still may try one sometime.

I think the DG will be fine.Mine only takes care of the top layer of sand,maybe 1/4" deep max.He did burrow a tunnel he resides in at night, but other than that he dosent do a whole lot of tunneling.

This thread was dug up after 2 1/2 years. I have had a Diamond goby since I asked that question. I would not keep a tank without one now. They do a great job of keeping the sand bed nice and white.
