Ww have now had our tank for five years this weekend. What an experience.
here are some thoughts, and comments.
1, use damels as your first fish they are very hardy.( 5 years later I'm still trying to catch the little bast**ds.
2, You must test water daily to watch for swings in water balance. ( the only thing that I watched was my wallet opening for more test kits every other week.
3, The light hood that came with our 75gal tank is fine. ( three light unit upgrades later and $$$$$. we now have the right ones.
4,Tap water is fine for a tank, unless you live somewhere that the water is pure, and then u are probable selling it as drinking water, We finally bought an RO unit.
Bottom line we love our tank and have grow as the tank has grown.
