Go with an AquaC Remora protein skimmer.
I would also use some sort of mechanical/chemical filtration. I would recommend a Whisper 3 filter. Inexpensive, widely available, and the filter bags and media are cheap. I have used one on my tank for years and have never had a problem. In fact, the same unit was on my FW tank for over 15 years!!! If that is not reliable....I don't know what is!

i will and thanks for the advice. ive decided on the lights, i will be using a coral life 260 pc. hoping that will be enough for some toadstools , hammers, xenias,. ive also up the amount of ls to 80#. what about power heads anysuggestions, thanks again. ihave a 12g nano that i have up and running successful for 4 months now. love this hobby.
