Some would argue that the Tangs wouldn't work... I think the Yellow Tang will be ok, but the Blue Hippo won't last more than a year or so... depending on what size you get...
Other than that, nice looking list.

Please rethink the 2 tangs in a 55 gallon tank one is pushing it but 2 is not good at all. The blue regal or hippo really really needs a larger tank they yellow is Ok for a short time but really needs a larger tank aswell but IMO is doable in a 55 gallon tank. I think your list is a bit much for a reef tank though thats 11 fish in a 4 foot tank 2 of which are larger fish and will cause water quailty issues in the long run especially in a reef tank where the water quaility needs to be as high as possible for the corals. most of the fish you have on the list are smaller fish and will make great additions but wont add a lot of movement IMO I would look at normal swimming ranges and pick some that will reside in different areas of the tank levels. lower-rock perchers sand dwellers, mid-level staying along the rocks and within the rocks, and upper level that like to swim open are towards the top of the tank.
Just my 2 cents though LOL

No Tangs and really not 2! Since the others are small then maybe one med size fish or you could be full.
What type of Monti you thinking? With 4x54 don't know about the monti and B-nest but the rest should be OK.
Man another CO'n good to see!

OK. Now I know why it is a good idea to ask first!

So I am going to cut back the tangs.
I was looking at a small Blue Hippo (<2 inches). How long until he outgrows the tank?
If I drop both tangs and stick with the rest of the list, do you have suggestions for a colorful, relatively easy to care for medium size fish?
The monti that I was looking at was the Aquacultured Montipora from SWF.com. It lists medium lighting.
Thanks for all of your help. John
