Hello there, that is very nice.
How much reading on SW aquriums have u done?
Some things u will need Live rock, live sand, Salt mix, Hydrometer, Test kits, I see u have a light and a filter and heater.....
you must give the system time to cycle befor u add anything, u should read about that, there r some great threads about it on this site. r u setting it up now before feb. 14 ?
not sure what u r looking to learn. What do u have so far?
sorry need more info ,
good luck to u

Instead of the hydrometer you should get a refractometer

First of all.... can I say "awwww....." You are such a sweet boyfriend!~

Second, I agree. One small fish is all you would be able to keep in a 5 gallon. Get maybe a clown goby or some other type of goby. A yashia goby is very nice. You can get that with a pistol shrimp, hopefully they will pair up and provide lots of entertainment for your girlfriend!~
You can also get a couple of snails and small hermits, definately get a pom pom crab!~
A softie tank with multiple colors of ricordea, zoanthids and mushrooms would be nice and colorful for her.

When you set it up, post it here! I wanna see!~

are you going to just take water from your biocube? that would work best i would think. you could just do a water change in the biocube and put the water in the 5gal add some sand from the biocube and get some LR rubble from the fish store and then you MIGHT have a mini cycle but thats it and then you could add fish and corals right away
