I though it was a good concept but was disappointed at how they draw it out for so long. Get on with the answers already.

i too thought the way too many commercial breaks was too much. i mean, come on, a commercial break after she answers the sun is the closest star? if she hadn't taken 5 mins to answer...

i honestly can't believe the stupidity of those people..
i couldn't get over "What is R.E.M.", not only did i learn that in 4th grade... but it was a band of her time..
or the area of the triangle... some people are just not smart, that show bothers me that they can't outsmart a 5th grader... i find that utterly pathedic.

there are *some* cases where i can understand adults not knowing *some* of the questions since its been so long since we've been out of school. but omgz. i pity these people's kids if they need help with school work.

I don't think it will last unless they speed it up. As far as the people being stupid remember this, the people that run that show are betting a million bucks that MOST people will not be able to answer all of the questions and I'll be willing to bet that they have paid a bunch of actuaries <sp> a bunch of money to make sure that MOST people can't answer the questions they come up with. It's all about making money on advertising not giving it away. I wonder which has the better odds? Smarter than a 5th grader or Deal or no Deal. I know who has the better looking staffers.
The better question is whether poor Jeff Foxworthy will ever get a TV show that lasts more than a season.
...and how do you figure the area of a triangle anyway? Been a long time since I was in the 5th grade.
I guessed right on the Columbus day question, but go find me some first graders that can remember that for more than a week after the test.

a suared plus b squared = c squared no? actually no that's not right... but are they really teaching that in 5th grade? i must be way out of the loop in what they are teaching kids today.
i think jeff could have been a lot funnier as well. i probably would do better on this show than on deal or no deal because i have more knowledge than luck :)

this show is for people of the 5th grader mentality.
just more proof that stupid people will do anything to get on tv.

i was just listening to the radio--28 million people supposedly watched the show last night. i think it has to do with the fact that they made idol last halfway into the other hour long shows on other channels--who's going to start halfway in on another show--so who knows how it will do on its own.

quote- how do you figure the area of a triangle anyway - end quote
base times 0.5 height
so 8 inches high and 4 inch base, 4x half of 8 meaning 4, = area of 16 inches.

I didn't watch the show but if i was asked what R.E.M. was i wouldn't have said that it was a band... R.E.M. (rapid eye movement) is also a period of sleep infact if i remember right its the most important part of the sleep cycle. Anyways i guess my point is simple questions aren't always simple... if that makes any since. Its like when NASA sent that rocket into space a few years ago that missed the target. All of the math was right but the sientest forgot to change it from metric to custumary. Sometimes you can be to smart for your own good. Not saying this is what happened on the show since i didn't watch it but just trying to add a different side that could happen... ***)

you are right it is the most important period of sleep, and i know it stands for rapid eye movement, my point was not only did she learn it in school, it was a famous band of her time, it should have been a reminder., i wouldn't have said a band either, the question was " what does the period of sleep known as R.E.M. stand for?"

any band that could go for 2 decades, changing their music with the times, and having tons of memorable songs cant be all that bad...
