6 Month Old 12 gal Nano

All,
I have had some less than favorable luck with a 12 gal nano I recently bought. 1-2 months after the tank cycled (die off subsided) I placed beginner corals in the tank ranging from zoos to bubble tip anemones to mushrooms. None of these have survived, except for the zoos which are hanging on for dear life. In the past month a red slime algae has overtaken my tank, suffucating the remaining soft corals. I have recently feverishly experiented with the filter media, water flow, lighting schedules, salinity, temperature, nutrient supplement schedules, and whatever else could possibley be causiing this cycle of death and red algae. Current filter media consists of extensive sponge media, activated carbon, white carbon(?), and bio-balls. Current suppliments, used intermittently and in low dosages, have not noticeably affected the red slime algae bloom. The supplements consist of Iodine, Coral Vital, and Liquid Sponge Food. If anyone has an idea to the tanks poor performance, please lend me a hand.

Perameters:
12 gal
16lb LR
3.5in LSB
48watts
80 degrees
1.023 sal.
25x flow turnover

I have been told by many that you should wait until the tank is established and at least 6 months old before adding any type of coral to the tank.
