65 watt bulb on a 96 watt balest?

A 96 PC watt bulb went out today on my tank today. I was wondering if it would be ok to run a 65 watt PC bulb on this balest? Or even buy a VHO later on and run on this balest? Thanks for a fast reply. This is bugging the mess out of me!! :help: :notsure:

i dont think its smart to do it, it will overdrive the bulb and who knows what will happen

anyone else? how about the VHO? The balest is Customsealife. It is a real nice balest.

no you can't run it. You will blow your bulb or ballast or both. Watts must match with both bulb and ballast.

you will just cause a lot of damage, blow up some stuff..and make a mess...just stick to what its rated for...why is the 96watt so bright?? what tank is it on

It is on a 105 reef tank. I just looked at the price of 96 watt bulbs and it is CRAZY man. Do you know where I can get another for less than $60 shipped haha. Ya $60 is the cheapest so far.
