80 is pretty far up there. I would suggest getting into a regular water change schedule - nothing drastic, IMO, but regular. Also watch your feedings, rinse out your filter pads...

On a tall tank like yours you may not be getting enough water flow in the lower part of the tank. Maybe place a powehead down low to get the water to circulate up to the top of the tank. You could even move the return for the filter down low to get things flowing.
You could always get a HOB overflow and set up a sump/refugium with the return down low in the tank. It would help with flow and help control nitrates.
