75 stocking

Hello. I have a 75. I want a reef. Here's my list.
2 ocellaris clown (pair)
2 purple firefish
2 bangaii cardinalfish
1 yellow or purple tang-will either work?
1 Watchmans goby
1 fairy wrasse
What other fish could go? If no tang, what else are swimmers, and attractive? Thanks

That's a pretty good list, although I'm not a fan of tangs in a 75. I definitely would not put a Purple Tang in one. You'd be better off with a Yellow Eyed Kole or similar bristle tooth tang.
A better choice would be a dwarf angel like a Coral Beauty.

IMO, no. They get aggressive in that size tank. I don't think a yellow tang belongs in anything smaller than a 90G.

My 75 gal I just sold had a yellow tang. He was in that tank for a year. No problems with him being aggressive to the other tank mates. I think it is a hit or miss sometimes.

IMO, no. As he grows, he'll get more stressed and become more aggressive. Zebrosoma sp. tangs are mean.

i agree.. you can get them when they are all so cute and tiny when they are the size of a half dollar... but they get mean really quick as they start to grow,, they get VERY territorial...
People can have all kinds of different stories and ideas but Im sure youd rather have a calm tank so again, kole or bristletooth like the tomini

Listen, I have a 180 with a tiny purple tang, about half the size of my hand, and she just beat my 8" Achilles tang to death yesterday. Never showed any aggression prior to this, just snapped

A tomini or any of the bristletooth tangs would be a far better option. Any of the Ctenochaetus sp. tangs are going to be a better option and the only ones I'd consider for a 75G.

The CC star won't eat the urchin, and the two should leave each other alone. The main issue is that chocolate chip starfish eat coral. Both are also algae eaters, so you need to make sure that you have enough to support both critters.

Would the cc not be reef safe? Also, is there a reef safe star? 1 more- after like 6 mths, if i had a refugium, could i get a red mandarin dragoneyt Pair? Thanks.

you are asking a question someone just answered for you.. the starfish is reef safe AS LONG AS it has enough algae.. which means you may need to supplement it with some nori if you have 2 algae eaters and I'm not even sure if the starfish will eat it, I know the urchin will...
yes in 6 months to a year you could get A mandarin.... unless you notice a PROLIFIC over abbundance of copepods then you could get 2 at the same time..and even then if you have other fish that eat pods you could still have to supplement...

Good starter tank? Do i HAVE to have sump for success or can i get a HOB reef octopus 125 gallon skimmer, revamp my canister filter, and clean tanks weekly or biweekly? Thanks guys for help.

Everything looks okay in your stock list except that the sixline and the royal gramma will probably fight. I'd nix the sixline, they can really be mean little fish.
