Here is a tank that I had for 8 months and then sold. We decided to build a house and I figured I would just go bigger. So when the house was complete we purchased a 240 to replace the 180 we sold. The one that you can see the whole entire tank, stand and canopy is the 240 we are currently working on now.

i set my rock up as a wall about 3-4" away from the back glass, so the front is pretty wide open for the sand. there are a few passages for the fish to go through. this is a 75 gallon

my firefish has a little cave he escapes to whenever he feels threatened, but so far no fin damage and has been in there a month. also, he hasn't jumped in the few weeks i took the cover off again.

Here is my 75g. Sit the rock in the middle toward the back to give a hiding place and a rear swim path as well as good water flow. And try to make 1-2 swim through arches.
It really depends on what you plan to keep:
Larger fish - keep the rocks low for open swimming room.
Eels - Make sure the rocks are solid with plenty of crawl space
Small fish - Tall in the back so to make a Live Rock wall like a cliff
Mine is a QT tank with some larger fish in and out and eels...so I had to spread and stack solid with large gaps in the LR for eel crawl space. If it was full of Damsels and Clowns I'd stck it high with lots of swim through areas. But I can see my eels knocking it over and through the front glass
.
So again, decor it based on what you plan to keep.

Here is my 240g Long. I've since built the back wall up another layer. But this tank will hold 2 large eels, a huge Queen Angel, and a Large Blond Naso Tang so I needed the open water swim room and the solid bottom.
Just to give you some ideas. I made sure I had several caves for stressed fish to hide/sleep in.

Here are some pictures of my 150 while it was cycling. I haven't gotten any full tank shots since the addition of fish and corals, but this should give you an idea.

i hate everything i do with this rock. this is a cellular picture, so i know it is bad. i will get a better one once my camera isn't MIA.
any ideas on where to place tonga branch stuff? i feel like it looks misplaced everywhere i put it.

just pull it all out and put it all back in... dont try re-aranging it in the aquarium... thats what worked for me. also draw up a picture of what you'd like it to look like

Here is my 75g. Two days old, transfered everything from my 55g.

Plan on adding some more rock work, and then eventually some more fish and a cleaner shrimp.
