Hi guys I just relaunched my 75 gallon tank after losing all my fish to Hurricane Sandy power outage last fall. The current set up has 75 lbs of live rock, a crushed aragonite bed 1-2 inches deep. Water params are good>10 ppm nitrates, 0 nitrites, ph 8.3. I have 2 Hagen 405 canisters as well as a protein skimmer. Lighting is led. Current inhabitants are a 4-5 inch fuzzy dwarf lion, a 3-4 inch coral catfish, a huge 5 inch female gold stripe maroon clown, a sand sifting starfish and about 10 snails. I would like to add one or two more items to the tank and would like some suggestions I think I have enough par to get a bubble tip Anemone but was unsure about the Lion harrassing it. Also was thinking a purple reef lobster or maybe a pistol shrimp. But was unsure about the snail clean up crew comparability. Any thoughts are appreciated wanted some additional color maybe. Lion and clown get along fine so far been together about 2-3 weeks no issues the clown is definitely the tank boss. Thanks. Jon

Why would the lionfish harass a 'nem? I've seen them perch on beds of polyps, but never a 'nem. I'd be more concerned with a large clownfish harassing the 'nem, and/or the 'nem becoming a territorial thing with the maroon clown.

LFS thought it may be an issue but I had the same thought which was why I asked for some suggestions. Interesting thoughts on the nem and regarding territoriality. I would assume that wherever the nem wound up settling would be the clowns territory assuming it would host the nem. The lion fishes favorite spots are upside down under one of the filter boxes or in one of the two caves on opposite sides of the aquarium these would probably not be where the nem wanted to be. More food for thought I suppose. anyone else have an intelligent thought or opinion??

I think you are right - the lion and the anemone wouldn't adopt the same niches in the tank. The anemone will look for light, and the lion wants shade and shelter. I think they will be fine together.

I've kept P. volitans with BTA's in the past with no issues. Our last big "volie" DID decide it liked to perch in a bed of daisy polyps tho...kept it up even when I moved the coral.
