8 bulb t5 light fixture set on tank cross braces?

I'm setting up a 125 (6 foot long) and I'd like to keep using my 4 foot long 8 bulb t5 fixture (nova extreme) for a while. Can I just lay that fixture across the cross braces (typical plastic bracing on an AGA)? Probably like to stick with that fixture for several months if this will work. thanks

Well it probably wont hurt anything. I did this with a 3 foot, 8 bulb light on my 65 for a long time. But it was supported by the sides of the tank. Not just supported by the braces. So it might be an issue. Why not hang it pendant style? Then it wont be a problem.
BTW, disassemble that thing, and add 2 175 w. MH on the ends of it in a retro'ed canopy and you'll be kickin butt. I'm sure the fixture has two ballasts, so you would have great control over your lighting you could do 4 actinics on, then the other 4 T5's on, then one MH then the other. shut down in opposite as start up for a good simulated day light cycle.

i was thinking about you putting on MH on the end with the extra 2 feet i my self would use a 400w and make it a 20k radium with a lumanark big reflector.
imo bc you are gona down the line end up using MH with that tank.
you can use one side for the t5 fixture and put a doll rod of wood on the other side to hold the t5 up and make a little fixture for the MH and add a fan to blow out the heat. peter is this gona be your in wall tank???
post some pic of this new bad boy

Well I held off on an in wall tank for the moment and I found a 125 with a really pretty cherry stand and canopy. The canopy sits on the end of the tank so the light can't and the canopy's access panel is on top so I can't really mount it on the top of the canopy. I was actually thinking about eventually adding a 250 MH with a 20k bulb at one end later. I think I'll build 2 T style braces (horizontal strip with vertical strip underneath) that will span from front to back of the tank.
Actually I used to have an Aqualight Pro with 175w MH lights on my 72 bowfront and I prefer the t5s.
I'm running (front to back) these bulbs:
ATI Super Blue
UV Super Actinic
UV Aquasun
ATI Blue Plus
ATI Procolor
ATI Blue Plus
ATI Aquablue Special
ATI Blue Plus
