80 Gallon start

Ok, this is going to be a slow build because I want it done right and have to piece it together as I get the cash. I was able to pick up this 80 gallon aquriaum for $350, I painted it black because I didn't care for the pine look. I ordered 65lbs pf pukani dry live rock for it and that is where I stand right now, was only able to put in about 50 or so of it though. Hopefully I can have it up and running by next year. It will have corals and at least one anemone. My main goal is to have a ton of eye popping color. List of fish that I plan on having is a yellow tang, blue hippo tang, flame angel, dragonets, black and white and orange and white clowns. A blue carpet anemone and various corals that I have not decided on yet.

Welcome to the site.....
I'm afraid the only doable fish on your list are the flame angel and two clowns...only one pair of clowns allowed in a tank that size.. Yellow tangs need a 6 foot tank to swim. A Hippo tang needs a minimum 100g tank and a dragonette is doable if you have a refugium and it is established at least a year...only one so no plural.
Carpet anemones are fish eaters, they also require really high lighting.
Instead of dreaming of the stock list ....pick that one fish you really want and can't do without. Then build around that. You have a good start and it is a nice looking tank.

Since you got no answer....the 1st post says it s something called "pukani dry live rock "...LOL, I never heard of it...looks like Figi rock to me. Maybe OP was trying to funny and calling it pukey????

Pukani is a type of rock sold at a few online places.

Sorry been a while, it is pukani dry live rock. You have to cycle it for about a month but it is totally worth it when you think about the cost. I paid $3.19 a pound for the rock, the rock, not water, just the rock so I actually got 65 lbs of rock. The pukani is very porous and light so a 5 lb peice of this is 3-4 times the size of other types of rock. If you want to know where I got it send me a pm.

So new to the tank I have added a 6 stage RO/DI to my system and an oversized sump that can hold 40 gallons. Next will be adding the lights, will be going with a 48" 6 bulb T5 fixture. Not exactly sure which one yet so feel free to chime in with suggestions. After that will get all the plumbing done and any other misc. things.
