First hot day up here in UPSTATE NY, and I noticed my temp was up to 85.2 degrees. I know this probably isn't a good thing and a chiller is out of the question. I have a 72 Bow and I took the glass tops off and it really didn't seem to help. Should i just change my lighting schedule a little so its on more when it is not so hot out. Any other sug?

tell me about it (close to 90 in rochester, and silly us didnt turn the AC on so my tank got hot too) id take the cover glass off if you can. what type of lighting system do u have? you can always get some small clip on fans to put on top of the tank to blow hot air away and fresh air over it.

Just in case this becomes your only option.....Fins Depot has a chiller for $299. We bought one and no longer have the worry.

I made one out of a mini refridgeator I found in the classifieds for 25.00. It is working great. I went from 82 -84 to 76 - 78.

Put a nice sized fan on top of the tank and let it cool down the lights will help greatly!!! Also if you have an ac in the room turn it up, thats the same as having a chiller....
Fan on top of my sump=80.8
Fan on top of my canopy blowing in=80.0
AC on with fan=78.2
AC and fan all nite=77.1
This is my first summer with a 65g last summer was with my 30g and no sump i have noticed that my 65g with sump and canopy isnt getting as hot as the 30g did i guess its the constant motion of water through the tank and sump, as well as the fan helping with the heat on the lights!!

Yea i have 500+ watts of MH/PC combo ont here so i don't think the ice will do anything. I will try the fan trick though. Maybe I can upgrade the ones in the housing as well.
