Just got back from myrtle beach and found that water had leaked out around my skimmer on the floor my brother and law took care of the problem but my sg is1.018 everything in tank is fine how should i go about raising my sg and could this cause a problem?

I had just the opposite problem and found my SG was too high. What I did was was remove one gallon of tank water and ad one fresh every day for a week and it slowly came down. I would think if you mixed a batch of saltwater at around 1.027 or so and added that every day as top off water it would come up slow enough as not to stress anything.

It you top off you evaporated water with saltwater of the same specific gravity of your tank - your salinity will slowly increase over time.
No need to mix an extra salty mixture to do this.

I think Broomer means to top off with the SG you usually have it at, therefore increaing it slowly over time. If you added at what you have now (1.017) there is no way it will increase.

Actually, it will increase if you top off at the current 1.017 sg. As broomer said, there is no need to introduce water at a higher specific gravity.
