anybody have this system, or maybe the 4x54 on a smaller tank, or something larger on a bigger tank. or have you ever seen this fixture my question to you is,
what was being kept under that light, was it vibrant in color. if you can give me the fixture and tank size would be great so i can get an idea.

if you do decide to go with nova, make sure that you buy individual reflectors, 300% is a lot more light
. what are the dimensions of your tank? im running the 5 bulb aquactinics tx5 fixture on my 55 mixed reef and i love it. glad you started a new thread. i did post some pics of HQI/T5 comparisons from a member of a different site if you want to look back there though.

I had 8, 54 watts on my 150. I had everything from an anenome to a clam and all did well. The fixture broke though, so i replaced it with my MH and 4 bulbs of T5. I have nova extreme 4, 54 watts on my 55, and my montis are doing really well and a clam, the colors look as good as MH. In fact, some of my zoos and shrooms look better under T5's.

actually i did see the pics, and replied how thankful i was that you did,

know what i dont know the dimensions, i just know its 48" long and glass top to glass bottom 26" i have a lot of rock work which could be used to place certain corals up high if need be, and reflectors how much do they run, and are they easy to install?

you see its responses like this that make me wanna grab some lotion and head for the restroom and
put it under the cabinet neatly so the kids dont use it all up i guess. hehehe, for reals i like that because i have a clam under pc right now (i was told pc would be sufficent light) (i dont shop their no more) and i cant wait to get the fella under more intense lighting

I am not a huge T5 fan but with an 8x54 on your tank you should ready to rock.
I dont know if I would stick all 8 in 10,000k. It seems that might not show off the colors as good.
Thats just me

what would be a good way to do it, because i had it confirmed that this fixture is coming with these bulbs. not seperate like other websites have indicated, i really just want to get away from my PC's which my wife doesnt understand but will when seeing the diff.
oh and i read on another thread that a person once used pc alongside the t-5s to increase their wattage is that a valid statment. i was planning on using it one of my fresh water tanks but if it can stay ill leave it

I have the nova extreme 8x 54w over my 90gal. I love the system. I've been keeping SPS under it for a few months and now and have had noticeble growth.
You'll be really happy with it. the only thing i didnt like was the white moon lights, which it came with instead of the blue ones. But I guess moonlight is white...

My system has 4- 10k bulbs and 4 actinic. I thought this was the standard setup. 8- 10k bulbs will provide more usable light for the corals but will not be as visually pleasing as the 4 10k and 4 actinic setup.
You really wont need to leave the pc's lights on. This system will provide plently of light

i think thats what it is, 4k bulbs and 4 act bulbs, equal to 8 so it should still give a good look though

10k for growth and Actinics for color. Yep a split will do good. maybe even a 5/3 split. You dont really need 4 bulbs dedicated to actinics.

LOL good luck waiting 2 years to make the change. I bet you wont last a month before you swap out for a 5/3 or even 6/2 ratio. Even a 3/3/2 10k, 20k, and Actinic respectivly just for play within the color choices.
