I think today those of us politiheads hould refrain from any political debate/discussions today out of respect and remembrance.
I already heard the radio talk show hosts of air america and conservative using this day as a political talking point today to bash current and past administrations... and I got sick....

I did too.
Then I remembered the Van Jones's of the world and redoubled my rememberance and dedication to doing all I can to prevent this from happening again.
Ask Van where he was 9/12/01.
The Democrats started it ( politicization) with Murtha and Kerry's comments on soldiers in the line of fire. In some ways what I heard were calls ( in concervative talk) to not forget, not morph into a "service" holiday. Heck we've moved most of the other holidays to Mondays to give us a 3 day weekend, why not these ( 9/11, Independance Day).
They were political long before us and will be long after we are gone.
The world map would look quite different were I POTUS 9/11/01, probably a good thing I was not.
It's not about service, it is about Rememberance.
An F-16 ( I assume from Toledo ANG) split the air over my house. I assume it was on the way to intercept Flt 94 as the flight turned around over Akron, Ohio. I will never forget that sound while watching the events unfold on TV.
Lest We Forget.

I was in college and in the Air Nat'l Guard part time that Tuesday morning -- then as of that coming Friday full time. We had a detachment out of Virginia and launched f-16's to intercept that last airliner.
Now I'm not sure if you have heard of the conspiracy theory between one of our pilots shooting it down or not but I can attest along with a whole guard base of people that it is completely untrue as the pilot in question was in the western part of the US, all the jets came home with the exact number of missiles they left with and a secret like that couldn't be kept anyways lol.
Now, fast forward 7 years to Sept 11, 2008 and my daughter was born on Patriot Day so my thoughts go towards that but I'll always remember that Tuesday morning and the events that followed.
