(90 gallon reef) LED Lighting / carbon filtration question

Moved all my inhabitants to a much larger system, now looking to turn my 90g into a reef setup.
I really would like to give LED's a try seeing has how they seem to be cheaper initially as well as long term.
SWF.com has https://www.saltwaterfish.com/Marineland-Reef-Capable-LED-Light-48quot--60quot_p_5185.html
46 x 10000 k
8 x 460 nm blue 1w
Any opinions?
I keep reading that people still prefer HO T5 or MH over LED's, so does that mean there would be limitations to using a LED system?
Also looking for suggestions for carbon filtration.
I currently just have a basic refugium with {filter sock}>{biological (culerpa/chaeto)}>{skimmer to return.}
My skimmer is rated up to 150g as is and working fine but considering purchasing the
https://www.saltwaterfish.com/AE-Tech-Protean-400-Refugium-AIO-System_p_3631.html and a small carbon filter system.
Or should I just keep what I have and just purchase one of the 3-4 stage canister filters?

Do NOT go w/ marineland LED lighting, they use 1W LEDs that don't penetrate, DIY is the way to go.
I am willing to help you out if you want.

I guess i should mention my dimensions and current light setup.
48"x18"x24" tall.
2.5" sand bed.
And I currently have :
48" Hagen Glo HO T5 2x54w
48" Coralife T5 Atinics 2x 10000 K (unsure of wattage, came free with system during a large sale @ LFS)
Lighting penetrates a good inch of my sandbed. I'll upload few pics.

This is with my glass lids on, not sure if this will help.
These pics make the lights look pretty good, but still think I need an upgrade on account of I kept a couple gorgonia, and some plants that did last long unless there were placed in the top half of the tank. And that was with great flow, and water parameters.
