90 gallon

My son works at the local pet store and they have just gotten in a 90 gallon tank, stand, and hood. The guy that brought it in to sell is asking $300 for the tank and it also comes with a canister filter. I was just wondering if this sounds like a good deal. I'm also wondering about how much live rock and sand I would need to put in it. This will be a big step up from my 14 gallon biocube.

Sounds good to me as long as it doesn't leak,
What type of lights does it have? As far as rock goes I would get a minimum of 90lbs....probably more....and for sand...do you want a deep or a shallow bed?
what type of canister is it??

I would have to change the lighting. The guy that brought it in had it set up for freshwater. I forget what brand of canister filter it is, but I'm going to upgrade on the canister filter. Since my son works at the pet store I get great deals on all that I buy..

It was on sale, but I got my 90g, along with the stand and canopy for $400.00 brand new. I think $300.00 is asking allot and you don't even want the canister... I think you can do better.

For a used tank good starting point is $1.00 per gallon and go from there....so I'd say $300 is a little steep IMO. Have to 2nd Flowers opinion.

Yup, for that price buy NEW! I got my drilled 90 gal for $400.00. Now if hes going stand and all that would help. Meowzer is gonna get me for saying this but I will take. I WORRY! If its gonna cost that much then I want piece of mind of what new can give me. Trust me that if your going Salt then the tank will be the least of your expense. GOOD LUCK.

$300 is a lot for a used tank. what kind of a stand is it? steel or wood cabinet? there is a always a risk with used tank, like leaks or copper-treated.

The $300 is for tank, stand, canopy, and canister filter... I'm just thinking of changing to a marineland 530 canister... Can't remember the name of the canister that comes with the tank. I can get the new canister for $150. I looked into buying a new 90 gallon tank with a new cherry stand and canopy and it was going to be a little over a $1000...

Where did you find a deal like that? Here for the tank, stand, and canopy in cherry was just over a $1000...
