90g trigger tankmates?

I have a 90g w/lr, 4inch sand bed, and a tidepool sump (put muck from a lfs live rock tank under the wheel to add biological filtration)
for the last month, the only inhabitant (other than hermits which got too big/destructive for my reef tank and will more than likely wind up lunch) is a clown trigger. (just under 3 inches)
While visiting some LFS to get food or see if they have any new corals that would fill some empty spots in the reef tank, I'm always looking at the aggressive section trying to talk myself out of adding another fish... Anyways the temptation has finally gotten the better of me...
The 90 will not be their final home, I am planning to get a larger tank in late august. I'm looking into a tank in the 240-300 gallon range.
This is my first trigger, and have no previous experience keeping them (other than from the LFS where i used to work) Had to quit cuz the owners were more interested in making a buck rather than the well being of the fish they sold... So my knowledge from the LFS is rather misguided...
Now i'll get to my question... What ONE other fish would you add to a temporary 90 gallon tank with a clown trigger? I plan on having 3 fish total in the 240-300 when i get it set up. I have ruled out any other triggers or puffers, so some potential fish are:
Volitan Lion (or will the trigger pick at the fins?)
Grouper (not sure which species)
Harlequin tusk (aust)
Lookdown (probably better when i get the bigger tank?)
Any other suggestions? Again I only want to have 3 fish total in the new tank...
Thanks for any ideas and sorry for the long post...

Go for a tang of some sort or an Austrialn Tusk fish is very cool, or even a large queen angle are awsome, One of those will be going in my 165G after its done cycleing. Your clown is very small and probally can't do any damage untill he doubles in size. Just make sure the fish you add is at least a little bigger than the trigger just to play it safe. the other thing is make sure you can afford a large tank You'll need a few grand to start up anything larger than 200G just make sure you can afford it before you stock up a 90 with serious fish.

Ciguatera, I understand that you are looking at a new tank (240-300). No offense to you at all, but a lot of people say that now and for whatever reason, money, time, lost interest, etc. They don't do it and the big fish suffer. Like Dirtybilge said, big tanks are BIG money. I know, I am still in the process of putting in my 300. Anyway, I would get something like an Aust. Halequin Tusk. Great fish and if you don't upgrade he would probably be ok in the 90, although the Clown Trigger wouldn't. Good Luck to you. Out of curiosity, why do you only want 3 fish in the larger tank? You could easily put more than 3 in a 300 gallon tank.

If you are 100% sure you are going to upgrade to a larger tank in the future, I'd go with a grouper. There are many attractive species. My personal favorites include blue-lines, blue-dots, miniatus, coney, and the oh so common panthers. In that small of a tank, I would be careful with a tusk. They are pretty mellow guys, and in a 90, they really wouldn't have room for territory, and this could lead to fighting. I've always dreamed of having a tessy, and a 300 with a tesselta and a clown would probably work out. Bo

Thanks for the advice... I decided to wait until i have the new tank before adding any other fish. At this point I'm not sure exactly what size the new tank will be. If I wind up with a tank of 300g+ I will get a tesselata (I've been pondering getting one since i've been in this hobby) But I don't want to jump into getting anything just yet without knowing if the new tank will be suitable...
thanks again...
