what if he might want a fish only tank?
a NO light that probably comes with the tank would be fine.
i think its very possible to get a nice saltwater tank up and operational for $200 (pre-livestock)

some wife was po'd at her husband and wiped out his entire tank.
there was a huge discussion that was about animal cruelty and stuff.

You are one sick man, I am sick and have never thought of that. I just read the bleach story, it is sick. The cops actually witnessed the woman do it, and arrested her.
Back on topic, I wouldn't definitely buy a book, have a picture of a tank. You will both want to go through the entire process together.
